We're Ready to Believe You!

If there's somethin' strange in your neighbourhood.. who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!

Predictable development right here. I really enjoyed doing this nail art though it was painfully difficult to photograph and do justice to the real life thing, so this post may be a little image-heavy.

It's been a while since I did some proper nail art! I think this Ghostbusters logo may have been the most complex cartoony thing I've done so far. Possibly tied with the Clockwork Orange one, I'm not sure. Anyway, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.
More pictures!

I'll just admit right off the bat - I don't really like the drip nail art thing. Sometimes when executed very well I can enjoy them, but generally it's just not my cup of tea. However, I wanted to give them a go since I felt they suited the theme and I'd never done them before. I think they do well within the context here but.. eh. On their own they don't really wow me.

The yellow-black striped thing going on is based on the ghost traps they use, and was done with the aide of tape. Unfortunately application of top coat made them streak out a bit but I don't have it in me to touch it up to be honest.

Materials used:
- H&M 'Summer Sunrise', Say No To Racism set.
- 2True's 'Shade 4'
- A YSL metallic black I don't know the number of
- Koh's 'Black!' for the ghost-trap stripes.
- Acrylic paints

Strawberry Lollipop.

Another of H&M's little 'Say No To Racism'-set, 'Strawberry Lollipop'. I've reviewed two other polishes of the set before, and they really disappointed me (especially since I bought the full set mainly for one of them).

Anyone that knows me is aware pink isn't my colour, but one of my best friends - my Pinkie Pie, if you will - loves the colour. So for her birthday party recently I dug this out. Since I quite frankly had no trust in this polish beforehand, I layered it over a darker pink.

I can't wear pink without feeling like I have Barbie hands. It's strange how the colour on your nails can alter your perception of your hands so much.
It's a light, 'sweet' shade of pink. I don't recommend this particular polish because it really doesn't cover very well. I'm sure there's similar pinks of a better quality out there.

Whatever your opinion - this polish is definitely suited to a Pinkie party!

Your faithful student..

Twilight Sparkle!
Sometimes I think my blog is just blue, green and purple polishes.. anyway.
My own personal Pinkie Pie One of my friends has not too long ago converted me to pony-dom, so logically nail art had to follow. And of who other than my favourite pony's cutie mark, of course.

This is another one of H&M's 'Say No To Racism' set, by the name of 'Pale Violet'. I have previously reviewed & swatched Pear Icecream from the same set. Like the former, I'm not exactly impressed with the quality of this polish either. At 3 coats, it still doesn't cover as well as it should, but I have less complaints than with Pear Icecream. The pink is my remarkably-frequently-used-for-a-colour-I-don't-like 151, L'Oreal Resist & Shine Titanium, and the white is a Hema French manicure striper.

I'll pear the disappointment.

Artificial light,
Flash.

(I'll bear it.. I'll pear it..? Get it? Puns. I warned you.)

The first of my blog posts that's going to be rather negative, I'm afraid.  I suppose there are two sides to every coin!

I thought the H&M 'Say No To Racism' polish set was an adorable collection of cute colours (despite the unoriginal names), and I especially looked forward to trying out 'Pear Icecream'.
Well, now I have.. and what an incredible let down it was.

Whereas I do absolutely love the colour (a pale minty green creme - that, by the way, in no way resembles actual pears) the formula was miserable. After 3 coats the colour of the nail still shone through in many places and the application was streaky. The brush left a few little black hairs (grrr!) behind in the polish and it seemed to scratch the layers underneath rather than neatly apply over it. I applied a fourth coat, and I'm still not entirely happy with the coverage, but decided to leave it at that. It's hardly going to improve much now.

At this point I'm unable to vouch for the other 3 polishes in the set, but as I bought it mainly to get my hands on 'Pear Icecream', I'm left a bit disillusioned.
